When fixing the inevitable failure of the foam on heater Baffles/flaps in the Porsche 996 or Boxster climate control system, you'll need to cut open the top swivel point.  This part allows an easy way to cap it properly when the job is complete.  It is made from PETG which has a higher melting point than the ABS material of the heater box.
